Abstract

Due to the limited maintenance resources, it is a must to focus the activity of maintenance on the most critical equipment, the mastery of the techniques in this context is gaining an increasing attention especially in large industries involving numerous production lines. The current paper aims to compare two among the most distinguished techniques in equipment prioritization which are PROMTHEE (Preference Ranking Organization METHod for Enrichment of Evaluations) and TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), an experimental study is carried based on real industrial data revealing differentiated results, which allows to examine the rightness and accuracy of the two approaches.
