Abstract

 The use of a Support Vector Machine (SVM), based on classification algorithms, provides an effective system for diagnosing rotor faults in cage induction motors by analyzing the motor current signal (MCSA). The Root‑MUSIC method is introduced to extract the frequency spectrum from stator current signals and compute the powers at lateral frequencies around the fundamental. These spectral features are then supplied to a multi‑class SVM classifier, which determines the nature and type of motor failure using Maximum‑Posterior Estimation (MAP). Experimental results from tests with three‑phase motor faults (e.g., broken bars) demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of combining Root‑MUSIC and SVM for induction motor fault diagnosis.
